[atrb=border,0,bTable][atrb=width,450,bTable][atrb=style,background: #222222; padding: 20px; text-align: center;] Lucine 254 Years Old- Female – May 14th - Heterosexual " And the waves crashing around me, the sand slips out to sea. And the winds that blow remind me, of what has been, and what can never be. " MERMAID Appearance Faceclaim:: Gwendolyn from Odin Sphere Height:: 5’6” Weight:: 130lbs Special Features:: A string of pearls given to her by her mother. Lucine wears it in a number of ways depending on her outfit. It may be woven into her hair, worn as a necklace, wound around her tail when in the water, ect. Full Appearance:: Lucine had long blonde hair that falls to her waist and pale violet eyes adorned with long lashes. Her skin is pale, appearing even more so when she is underwater. Lucine usually lets her hair simply be free, although she will put it up on rare occasions. While underwater, Lucine appears as just as she is: a mermaid. Despite being only of average height on land, in the water Lucine sports a tail that is about fight feet in length. This tail shimmers beneath the waves with scales of blue and purple and begins just below her hip bones. While underwater, Lucine wears little as most folklore tells of mermaids. Other than a string of pearls that hold high sentimental value to her, she may wear a scarf of silk around her chest out of modesty, but at times she simply leaves it and swims about topless. She does love shiny things, though, thus you will always see her wearing earrings, bracelets, rings, and the like as well. On land, Lucine differs. Rather than a tail, she has two perfectly normal legs. She stands at an average height for a woman and while not terribly curvaceous, she does have a slight figure. Lucine is rather thin. Her skin is just as pale as when underwater, and she applies sunscreen whenever possible because of this. On land, Lucine wears little more than sundresses on a normal day. She hates pants and shorts, and therefore you’ll never see her wearing them. She wears longer skirts and dresses made of lighter materials most of the time. She may sport a jacket or sweater if I’s cold outside, but cold doesn’t really seem to bother her all that much. Her normal choice for shoes are flats of flip flops, you’ll hardly ever see her in heels. Lucine’s love of jewelry carries into her outfits on land, you’ll never see her without something shiny adorning her features. Attitude Full Personality:: Lucine loves people. On any gien day, she will go out of her way to speak to anyone and everyone she comes across for whatever reason. She likes nothing more than to see people smiling and happy. However, she may only do this while on land. In the water, Lucine keep to herself, hiding beneath the waves although she may occasionally swim up to catch a glimpse o the goings on about the piers and whatnot. She was taught to stay away from humans, that they were dangerous and cruel, but Lucine refuses to believe that they are all like that and wishes to befriend as many as possible if she can. Anger is an emotion rarely seen on Lucine’s face. It takes a lot to get her riled. Nothing short of punching an infant will invoke a negative reaction from her. Sadness, on the other hand, sems to follow Lucine wherever she goes. Her past is a trail of love and loss and often keeps her awake at night. It’s not uncommon to see her brooding because of this. If her mood is bad enough, Lucine will simpy retreat from land and go sulk beneath the waves for a bit, content in the company of her aquatic friends and return to the surface once she feels better. Then there is Lucine in love. This girl falls for men faster than any other living thing almost. Always one to be a stereotype, Lucine’s got a thing for sailors. She will sneak around under the water around the ships for hours just watching them, trying to find one that strikes her fancy, and when she does she essentially stalks him for a bit. She knows this isn’t the best of behavior and, in all actuality, quite a bad idea but she simply can’t help herself. She wants desperately to be loved but fears to actually reach out and find love for fear of past mistakes. Besides all her little quirks, Lucine is a sweet and kind individual. Intelligence isn’t exactly something she’s known for, but she does have a knack for old medicine in the ways of herbs and the like. Other than that, Lucine truly is dumb as a post. Math is a foreign oncept to her,as is science and literature. She would learn if she could, but she fears venturing too far into human society. Likes::

Hobbies:: Occupation:: Lucine runs a small antique shop on one of the busier boardwalks by the ocean. There is a small deck out back where she goes if business is slow to dip her feet in the water. Being able to do so makes it easier for her to stay on land for longer periods of time. Once the day is done, she can also close up shop and simply dive right into the water for a night’s rest. Notes of Interest:: The lovely Lucine is a creature, a mermaid to be exact. While most tales of mermaids end in tragedy for either the mermaid or the human or both, Lucine pays no mind to the warning of such fables or from the words her mother once told her and associates with humans despite it all, although she only does so while on land. Mermaid Tears – Lucine’s tears are no ordinary tears. Myths have different descriptions of their abilities, but Lucine’s tears turn into highly valuable pearls once they roll down her cheeks and drop from her face. She tries to cry as little as possible because of this. This only happens while on land for whatever reason, if Lucine cries underwater her tears are washed away before they have the chance to solidify into pearls. Aquatic Lover, Land Lover – Lucine has the power to turn her tail into a pair of legs she uses to wander about on land. While it is handy for interacting with humans as she so loves to do, she is hopelessly clumsy while in this state, and running usually ends badly for her. Lucine has been known to trip over the smallest of pebbles and be blown off kilter by the gentlest of breezes while walking on land, but it is necessary to run her shop and interact with people. Hypnotic Melody – Lucine’s singing is not only beautiful, but it has the ability to hypnotize those who hear it. Depending on the person’s mental strength, they may be able to resist, but there really is no need to as Lucine would never hypnotize someone out of malice. She simply loves to sing, and draws a crowd when she does so as a result of this hypnotizing voice she has. History Full History:: Lucine was born in the waters between France and Britain. She was one of eight sisters born to her mother,a nd for her first several years of life lived explicitly underwater until her mother deemed her and her siblings old enough to look above the surface. The yound mermaid was fascinated. The sky looked as vast as he sea and there were floating tufts of something floating around up there as well. Lucine always wondered how the clouds managed to stay floating like that. As a youngling, Lucine and her sisters were taught that humans were not friends but foes. They were evil beings who would kill or kidnap mermaids if given the opportunity. The young Lucine thought this absurd. Why would they have need to kill them? Mermaids posed no threat to humans as far as she could tell. So against her mother’s wishes she ventured closer and closer to humans. One winter’s night, there was a particularly foul tepest plagueing the French coast. A ship crashed upon the rocks and Lucine swam to investigate, fearing someone may need her help. And there she saw him. A young lord on his way home from dealing in Britain washedup on the rocks. He would have fallen off into the water and drowned, but Lucine swam over and pushed him further up onto land so that he would not drown. To her surprise he opened her eyes. Startled, she fled beneath the waves, but she could not forget his face. She watched from afar as the young man and the ship’s crew were rescued. He kept looked back at the waves, looking for her. Lucine had met her first love. But it was not to be. He was destined to marry another young lady already, and although he returned many a time to the tide’s edge to look for Lucine, she always hid behin a rock, scared to show herself to him. She saw the young lord walking long the sands with his intended and retreated heartbroken back to her underwater community. Years later, Lucine had swam to the British Isles. It was raining, and Lucine did love the rain. Thinking that not a soul would be out in such weather, she sat a upon a rock just off shore and sang her heart out to the sorm. However when she stopped, she saw that a ship was out. The captain stood at the railing, gazing at her with lovestruck eyes and a smile that would melt any woman’s heart. And so Lucine fell for yet another human. This one, however, she visited daily. She would swim up to the pier where the ship was docked and wait for him. The captain’s name was Nigel, and she loved him dearly. Lucine wondered if there was a way for her to spend more time with her lover, way for her to move about on land. Curious, she asked her mother who immediately took offense to the idea. She questioned her daughter as to why she would ever want to walk about land amongst humans, amongst those who were a danger to her and her sisters. Pleading, Lucine begged her mother to find it in her heart to let Lucine go. She was merely curious. Her mother was still skeptical, but obliged her daughter. Lucine’s mother made her a string of pearls out of the tears hshe had shed over the years, placing a guard on that so that whenever Lucin should leave the water, her tail would split and form legs so that she may walk upon land. Delighted Lucine immediately went to Nigel to tell him the good news. The captain was delighted and helped Lucine to learn how to walk with her new legs. However one summer’s day Nigel had to leave her. Lucine waited for him by the lighthouse and watched for his ship. By the time the ship came into view the waves were raging tempests and the winds uncontrollable. The captain’s ship was dashed against the rocks and he fell into the dark waters. Lucine dove in after him, searching helplessly but alas the currents had swept him away and she could not find him. And so another love was lost to her. Devastated, Lucine left the area. For years, she wandered the ocean searching for a new place to call home, occasionally meeting new loves and always losing them after only a short while. Eventually, she stumbled upon a new harbor in a place called South Isle. Tired of wandering and liking the idea of perhaps living among humans once more, Lucine sold of few of her pearls from tears she had shed for Nigel and set up an antique shop on one of the boardwalks.
