[atrb=border,0,bTable][atrb=width,450,bTable][atrb=style,background: #222222; padding: 20px; text-align: center;] Tomoko Hashimoto 18 - FEMALE - OCTOBER 1 - HETEROSEXUAL "and little ever changes, if anything at all" HUMAN Appearance Faceclaim:: Sawako Kuronuma ; Kimi Ni Todoke Height:: 5'7.5" Weight:: 135 lbs Special Features:: n/a Full Appearance:: Tomoko has long, black hair that's cut straight at the bottom. Her bangs are straight across her forehead, sometimes pulled back with clips or bows, and parted in the middle. Her hair length is easily at her lower back - she doesn't really care enough to get it cut. Her eyes are dark, and her face in general is very expressive. It's very obvious what she's feeling - she is horrible at hiding her emotions and wears her heart on her sleeve. Size-wise, Tomoko is a bit taller than average. She's 5'7.5" feet tall and athletic, on the pale side. She doesn't tan, she burns. Every summer she comes back from the beach looking like an embarrassed lobster. Her face is very round, making her look a bit younger than she really is. She often gets asked if she's in middle school, despite her size. It irks her to no end. She dresses very casually, and fully takes advantage of the "Asian girls can wear anything" stereotype. There is no two pieces of clothing that she won't wear together. On an average day, however, it's pretty basic - leggings, skirts, crazy tee-shirts, hoodies. However, when she is helping out her grandmother and doing Shinto-y things, Tomoko is expected to dress nicely and is often seen wearing traditional kimonos and (even rarer) a full miko robe. She doesn't enjoy wearing them, especially in summer when it gets stuffy. Attitude Full Personality:: Tomoko is a highly curious human bean. She has an unsatisfiable wonder for nearly everything, and asks questions about the world constantly. She finds life fascinating and is constantly looking for ways to learn more about it - whether it's reading, talking walks, meeting new people, forcing other people to meet her, whatever. She takes genuine joy from learning new things. This doesn't mean she's unintelligent, however - she knows quite a lot. She isn't genius level. But she fully believes that the more she knows, the better off she is. This makes her a source of quite a lot of information and random facts - most of it quite random and a bit useless. Sometimes she will make strange connections in her head - a color of a leaf will remind her of fire, which will make her think of camping...and before you know it, your conversation about soup has become a discussion about tents. She's also extremely candid - she often says what's on her mind, and is extremely bad at keeping and having secrets. However, she does know what tact is. She's just not very good at it. She's very accepting of people, almost to the point of being passive. She is usually cooperative and empathetic. Unfortunately, she can be childish, immature, and too opinionated for her own good. Tomoko tends to be lazy. If something is too much effort, she ignores it or tries to find the easy way out. She doesn't like having to work hard, and she complains quite a bit. She does things mostly if they are convenient, and procrastinates until the last second. She's a talented exorcist, but she gets bogged down with ghosts and requests and finds herself over her head quite a lot. She doesn't like to ask for help until it's absolutely necessary, so she creates a lot of unnecessary trouble for herself (and sometimes others). She also loses things a lot, and is a messy individual. Her room is only clean because of threats from her family. Even then, "clean" is a subjective word. She wants to be a detective when she grows up (as well as full exorcist like her mother and grandmother) so she likes to figure out puzzles and is an avid mystery follower. Her all-time favorite books and movies are in the mystery genre. She rarely reads anything else. Also - she tells the best ghost stories. By far. She also has a surprisingly large collection of stuffed pandas. Likes::

Hobbies:: Biking, reading, watching movies, talking to ghosts, meeting new people whether they like it or not Occupation:: High school student and part-time Exorcist / Self-Proclaimed Detective Notes of Interest:: --Exorcist: Not only does Tomoko have the power to ward off, help, and converse with spirits, she also is aware of other supernatural beings around her. Her powers only effect ghosts and spirits, however. Exorcism: Although sometimes Tomoko requires spiritual power to send spirits on to the next world and to help them rest peacefully, sometimes all that's needed is to find a certain item, or deliver a message, or just listen to the ghost for a bit. Each spirit will need a different form of closure - most spirits will move on after the conditions have been met (once, Tomoko had to tell a particularly sad ghost a joke so he would cheer up and move on. It was harder to do than it seemed). The spiritual power itself is a family inheritance that is passed down from female to female. How it works, they aren't too sure, but it involves saying part of a specific shinto chant called the Amatsu Norito. It is spoken in Japanese, and translates roughly to, "Spirits of the Sky and the Land, Take the badness, disasters, and sins and purify all." It can be spoken in English, but it loses its power and might not work the first time said ( 50% success rate). History Full History:: Tomoko was born October First to Ichiro and Reika Otani, and the family of three lived with Reika's mother, Risa Hashimoto. This in and of itself was not strange - unless you count the fact that exorcism and seeing the supernatural ran in the family. And the unfortunate side effect of being the daughter of exorcists is that you'll probably see ghosts. Tomoko's mother and grandmother (and every female in their family since they could remember) had the ability to do so, and had made a nice living acting as priestesses at the family temple, soothing spirits and sometimes putting on tea ceremonies. However, they kept this fact from Ichiro, who was a highly practical (read: didn't believe in this stuff anyways) man and had a brother in Heaven's Gate. Reiko and Risa were worried that their ability to see ghosts (and the obvious latent ability that Tomoko posessed) would cause them danger. Seeing spirits and interacting with them almost certainly would incriminate them. The tension became apparent in the marriage, and when Tomoko was four Reika and Ichiro got a divorce - Ichiro left the family and never knew about his wife and daughter's abilities. Reika changed back to her maiden name, and Tomoko spent many happy years with her mother and her grandma. In fact, the only strange thing about her childhood was the ghosts and spirits and supernatural beings they encountered.
